Dr. Crystal Ying Chan is a public health researcher and practitioner with a particular interest in healthcare service access and delivery for marginalized populations. Her dedication lies in developing and evaluating innovative approaches to ensure equitable healthcare access for vulnerable groups, including migrant workers, people living with dementia and their caregivers, and families living in sub-divided flats.
Dr. Chan has obtained several competitive grants as a principal investigator or co-investigator, including a commission project funded by the Wellcome Trust and three community-based health promotion projects funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (totalling HK$26 million). She is also experienced in supporting consultancy projects funded by government agencies, district councils, and non-government organizations. Her work has led to several publications in high-impact journals such as the British Medical Journal and Lancet Regional Health Western Pacific.
Dr. Chan obtained her bachelor's degree and doctoral degree in Public Health from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2016 and 2020, respectively. She passed the diplomate examination of the Faculty of Public Health in 2021. Since 2023, she has been appointed as a Research Assistant Professor in the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care.
