Biography

Prof. ZHONG, Chenwen (Claire) is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She is also a member of the Cochrane Collaboration, The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and Youth Editorial Board of Chinese General Practice Journal. Prof. Zhong obtained her Bachelor and Master degree in Medicine from Sun Yat-sen University, and PhD in Public Health (2022) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof. Zhong received an Ernst Mach Grant - Eurasia-Pacific Uninet for supporting her visits to Medical University of Vienna in 2022. She was also awarded Reaching Out Awards by Education Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government and Best research Paper Award by Hong Kong College of Family Physicians. She has been extensively trained in big-data analysis, evidence-based medicine, primary care research, guideline development, and implementation science. Building on this strong foundation, Prof. Zhong's future research agenda will focus on three key areas within primary care: i) the prediction of non-communicable disease especially cancer risk, including drug-drug comparison analysis, big data analysis, and machine learning; ii) the development and implementation of evidence-based, locally adaptable primary care guidelines, particularly for cancer prevention and chronic disease management; ii) the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with conventional medical practices in primary care. Prof. Zhong has been actively involved in securing research funding and currently serves as Principal Investigator on Chinese Medicine Development Fund project and Co-Investigator on four others, with a total funding exceeding HK$5 million. She has published research articles in esteemed international peer-reviewed academic journals as the first or corresponding author. She has been actively participating in oral and poster presentations and reviewing for international peer-reviewed academic journals, including the prestigious Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, International Journal of Surgery, and Journal of General Internal Medicine.

    • Methodological quality assessment for different study designs on TCM

    • Exploration of TCM theories, including syndrome differentiation in modern TCM research

    • Assessment of the effectiveness and safety of TCM
