Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Through strategic partnerships across Hong Kong, mainland China and beyond, we leverage our expertise to cultivate the next generation of public health and policy professionals through joint degree programmes, upskilling healthcare elites and providing training and mentorship.

JC School of Public Health and Primary Care selected as Host Institution for Phase II Fleming Fellowships in Bangladesh & Sri Lanka

The Fleming Fund, an initiative by the UK’s Department of Health and Social Care, aims to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in up to 25 countries across four regions: Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Africa, and East and Southern Africa. Launched in 2015, the fund includes a portfolio of country and regional grants, global projects and fellowship schemes, specifically targeting low- and middle-income countries.

As a host institution under the Fleming Fellowships, the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care will provide 18 months of training and mentorship to professional and policy fellows in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This programme aims to equip fellows with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively address the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance in their home countries. Through collaborative work with their mentors, fellows will develop tailored work plans that incorporate training both in Hong Kong and their home countries.

Led by Professor Hein Tun and Professor Paul Poon, a team of outstanding academics from our School and the Faculty of Medicine will serve as the senior advisors and mentors for the fellowship.

Collaboration with the Mainland to Develop Top Healthcare Talent

CU Medicine has formed a strategic partnership with Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University. The two top’s medical school signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2024 to collaborate on medical research and education, including setting up joint learning programmes and opportunities to exchange professional experiences.

Additionally, our Master of Public Health programme has welcomed the arrival of a prestigious cohort of healthcare and medical professionals from mainland China. The group includes distinguished individuals from the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration, leading hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and research centres. This follows the recent signing of a MoU between The Hong Kong Jockey Club and the National Health Commission, aimed at developing top talent in clinical services and health in support of the Healthy China 2030 Blueprint and the 14th Five-Year Plan on Health Talent Development.
