Dr. Cindy Yue Tian is a Research Assistant Professor at the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine from Wuhan University, where she was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate, and complete her Master and PhD in Public Health at CUHK. She subsequently received postdoctoral training at the Centre for Health Systems & Policy Research, CUHK. Her work has been recognized by several academic distinctions, including the Teaching Assistant Award of the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, the Wennberg International Collaborative Fall Research Meeting Travel Grant, the Reaching Out Award from the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government, a Women Leaders in Global Health Conference Scholarship from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and the Duke Kunshan Global Learning Semester Scholarship.

Dr. Tian’s research focuses on health system innovation, with particular interests in health literacy, patient-reported outcome measures, and the evaluation and implementation of digital health technologies, including artificial intelligence. Her work explores how patients’ knowledge, experiences, and values can be systematically translated into clinical decision-making, service improvement, and value-based care, with the aim of generating policy-relevant evidence to support equitable and patient-centred health system transformation.

Research Interest

  • Evaluation & Implementation of AI for Health

Designing, evaluating, and implementing patient-facing AI-enabled tools to ensure their safe, clinically meaningful, and equitable integration into real-world healthcare settings, with a focus on addressing AI-related and digital health equity challenges.

  • Health Literacy: Measurable Metrics and Translational Applications

Developing and validating measurable health literacy indicators and translating them into clinically and system-relevant applications to support patient engagement, healthcare decision-making, and service improvement.

  • Patient-reported Outcomes & Value-based Healthcare

Integrating patient-reported outcomes into care evaluation to support value-based, patient-centered health system improvement.
