The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Patient-Reported Indicator Surveys (PaRIS) initiative aims to support countries in improving care for people living with chronic conditions by collecting information on how people experience the quality and performance of primary and (generalist) ambulatory care services through the use of Patient Reported Outcomes (PROMs) and Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs).
The presentation will be delivered by Prof. Jose Valderas, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance at the National University of Singapore. Prof. Valderas will share his first-hand experience of leading the efforts for the development of the PaRIS Survey framework and the Patient Questionnaire. He will also give an overview of the aims, principles, instrumentation, and preliminary results of the initiative.
The seminar will be moderated by Prof. Eliza Wong, Associate Director and Professor of the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

About the Speaker
Prof. Valderas’ research interests focus on the use of patient reports on their health and care for health policy decision-making and clinical practice and has authored over 200 original scientific publications (Google Scholar h-Index 66). He has provided expert advice to the World Health Organization, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD) and the Wellcome Trust on patient reported indicators. He was elected to serve as President of the International Society for Quality of Life Research.
About the Moderator
Prof Eliza Wong is a Professor at JCSPHPC, CUHK and a Steering and Executive Committee member at the Centre of Health Systems and Policy Research. She is a registered nurse in Canada and Hong Kong and an Accredited Mediator of HK International Arbitration Centre and HK Mediation Accreditation Association Limited. Her research focuses on person-centred care, including patient experience and satisfaction, patient-reported outcomes using health-related quality of life, and patient choice in HPV self-sampling. She has a strong background in applying valuation methods and implementation science to enhance person-centred integrated care. She received the Excellence Research Award 2019 for “Valuation of Validation of Preference-based Health-related Quality of Life using EQ-5D-5L in Hong Kong” from the Health Bureau of HKSAR.
