On behalf of the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care (JCPHPC), The COVID-19 Junior Warriors Academy (C19JWA) has been presented the Most Active Non-Commercial Organisation Award and Silver Award - Non-Commercial Organisation (Volunteer Hours) in the Hong Kong Volunteer Award 2023. Our School received the awards for second year in a row. Individually, over 30 of our volunteers were recognised for their exceptional volunteer hours, among whom 6 received the Excellence Gold Award, including Prof. Kwok Kin On, Associate Professor, The JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, who was also the award recipient in 2022. Moreover, recipients of the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, as well as the JC Volunteer Together New Star Volunteer Award (Excellence Award), were acknowledged, honouring individuals with first-time volunteer experience.
During this period, C19JWA at JCSPHPC created a series of educational videos aiming to guide children in understanding various emotions and expressing them. Additionally, we organised workshops to enhance children's knowledge and awareness of public health-related topics. Gratefully, we received funding to launch a service project for young children, focusing on improving their social skills in the post-pandemic period. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who actively participated in this program during the past year. Moving forward, we will continue to strive towards raising public awareness of public health, including mental health and infectious disease epidemiology.
Also, warmest congratulations to Miss Kwok Ka Po Jojo, BSc in Public Health alumna from the class of 2021, for receiving the Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award in recognition of her distinguished contributions to voluntary work in the past year. In her own words, Jojo shared, "Through volunteer work, I can bring tangible changes to people's lives. Organising workshops for visually impaired individuals, giving health lectures, conducting medical outreach visits to remote areas, and providing volunteer training to empower vulnerable individuals and marginalized communities. They discover their own value and potential, participate in community activities, and make decisions. This fosters social inclusion." We are immensely proud of Jojo's commitment to making a positive impact on society. Her accomplishments truly exemplify the vision and mission we instill in the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care.
