Last week, the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care hosted two insightful seminars. The first seminar, titled “Busyness in the Maternity Ward and Quality of Care,” was presented by Professor Dan Han, Assistant Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore on 11 July 2024. The second seminar, “Beyond the Hype: The Promise and Perils of LLMs in Healthcare,” held on 12 July 2024 was delivered by Professor Arthur Tang, Senior Lecturer, Department of Information Technology, RMIT University Vietnam.

Professor Han’s seminar shed light on the correlation between a high-stress environment in maternity wards and the quality of care. She shared her observations and provided the audience with inspiring research insights that examined coping strategies for increased workloads in healthcare settings.

Professor Tang’s presentation focused on the transformative potential and inherent threats associated with the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) in healthcare. He shared his findings and posed thought-provoking questions that encouraged the audience to reflect on the implications of integrating advanced technologies into medical practices.

Both seminars were met with great success, as we extend our sincere gratitude to Prof Han and Prof Tang for their fruitful presentations. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming them back in the near future to further share their expertise with our School members.
