On July 29, Prof Tamara Giles-Vernick from the Institut Pasteur delivered an inspiring presentation titled "(Not knowing) TBE: The Social Emergence of Tickborne Encephalitis in France." The seminar was moderated by Prof Dong Dong, Assistant Professor at the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care (JCSPHPC).
Professor Giles-Vernick's talk shed light on the social aspects of tickborne encephalitis (TBE) in eastern France, offering valuable insights into how anthropological and historical research associates with the study of pathogenic emergence and expansion. Her expertise also highlighted the implications for public health education on TBE, enriching the audience's understanding in the field.
Another highlight of the seminar was the lively engagement from our School's participants, who posed thought-provoking questions and shared their perspectives with Prof Giles-Vernick. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from Professor Giles-Vernick and for her contribution to a dynamic and insightful seminar.
Participants actively interacted with Prof Giles-Vernick to facilitate knowledge exchange.
