Hosted by The JC School of Public Health and Primary Care (JCSPHPC), the CUHK HK PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) Summer Workshop – Intake 2025-26 was successfully held on 30 – 31 July 2024. The event welcomed 35 selected participants who are interested in pursuing PhD studies at JCSPHPC.
The Summer Workshop kicked off with an opening remark by Prof Samuel Wong, our School Director. Prof Wong provided a brief overview of our School, highlighting our strengths, teaching facilities, as well as our professors’ research and funded projects. This was followed by an engaging Q&A session, allowing participants to learn more about our School.

What’s more, the Summer Workshop offered an array of exciting activities. This included research sharing by our professors, covering our 5 key research themes: Non-communicable Diseases and Aging, Environmental Health and Infectious Diseases, Global Health Policy, Health Systems and Healthcare Delivery, Mental Well-Being, Social and Health Behaviours, and Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, and Big Data. Alumni sharing, CUHK campus tour, individual consultation session with our professors, and admission interviews were also featured in the enriching 2-day programme.

During the Summer Workshop, participants had a chance to explore the postgraduate programmes offered by JCSPHPC, learn about the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme established by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC), and discover the career prospects available in research and academia within the field of public health and primary care.
We hope that all participants found the programme enjoyable and had a wonderful experience at JCSPHPC. We look forward to welcoming you in the next academic year!
