The JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize a strategic partnership aimed at advancing education, training, and research in public and global health.

The Mou was formalised by Professor Samuel Wong Yeung-shan, Director of the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, and Professor Liam Smeeth, Director of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, in the presence of Professor Philip Chiu Wai-yan, Dean of CU Medicine, on 21 October 2025 (Tuesday).

The signing Schools will jointly explore the development of a range of academic initiatives designed to nurture future leaders in public health through high-impact education and research. These include accelerated and dual Master’s degree pathways, potential intercalation opportunities, collaborative PhD training, and a variety of experiential learning formats such as summer schools and research attachments. The partnership also encompasses joint research projects, academic events, and the exchange of institutional knowledge and best practices.

This landmark agreement brings together two leading institutions with a shared commitment to improving health and health equity worldwide. CUHK, a top Hong Kong university delivering one of the best medical educations in the region and globe, and LSHTM, one of the world’s leading public health universities renowned for its excellence in research and postgraduate education, will work together to create transformative learning and research opportunities.
