Our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Maggie Haitian WANG of The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care for receiving the funding award from the National Nature Science Foundation of China’s (NSFC) Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macao) (2023)! The funded project is titled “Innovative bioinformatics methods for vaccine antigen optimization”.
The NSFC’s Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macao) was launched in 2019 and is one of the key funding schemes from NSFC. Each award recipient will receive funding of RMB2 million to support their research in Hong Kong for a maximum of three years. It allows young scientists who have demonstrated achievements in basic research to conduct further research in areas of their choice, fostering intellectual development in academics.
Professor Wang’s research focuses on the interdisciplinary area of developing computational biology methods to design vaccine antigens. The funded project aims to develop methods for predicting virus evolution and optimising vaccine antigen design, providing useful bioinformatics tools for developing more effective vaccines.
We wish Professor Wang great success and continued recognition in the future.
