Bio
Dr. Carmen Wong graduated from the United Kingdom with first honour Bachelor degree (BSc) in Psychology in Medicine alongside the Bachelor in Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) degree. Dr. Wong further trained in general practice in the Oxford Deanery VTS (UK) and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and Associate Fellow of Hong Kong College of Family Physicians. Dr. Wong is Director of the Centre of Research and Promotion of Women’s Health and conducts her clinical work as honorary resident in Hospital Authority in Family Medicine.
As an avid medical educationist, she obtained a Master of Science of Clinical Education at University of Edinburgh, UK and currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education with University of Bristol. She is a design thinking practitioner and champions curriculum design and innovation. Her work extends across communication skills, social accountability, learner wellbeing and development and undergraduate and postgraduate primary care. Her current endeavor is a faculty wide interprofessional course connecting teams of health professional students to understand patient complexity and health systems. Dr. Wong is an advocate for collaborative teaching and learning and leads team-based learning (TBL) in clinical studies. Her current endeavor is the design and implementation of faculty wide interprofessional education (IPE) in early training. Dr. Wong’s numerous educational grants include clinical communication skills, medical audio glossary, medical Cantonese support, health in community (social responsibility), reflective practices and use of Gen AI in reflection. Her clinical interests include lifestyle medicine, women’s health and menopause. Dr. Wong co-leads a territory wide community project with multiple NGOs in training and implementation of health coaches and wearables for cardiovascular health in mid-life.
Dr. Wong received the Faculty Education Award 2020, University Education Award 2020 and the prestigious University Grants Council (UGC) Teaching Award (General Faculty member) in 2020. She is a member of the Hong Kong Teaching Excellence Alliance (HKTEA) and founder and lead of the HKTEA Design Thinking Community of Practice.
