The School offers three Bachelor’s Programmes designed to train young public health professionals: the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (JS4537), the Bachelor of Science in Community Health Practice, and the Bachelor of Science in Gerontology.

1. Bachelor of Science Programme in Public Health (JS4537)

The Bachelor of Science Programme in Public Health Programme was launched in 2009. It is the first and only undergraduate programme of its kind in Hong Kong. The curriculum is benchmarked with world-class universities in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States and was accredited by APHEA.

The programmes provides students who have interests in public health with valuable insights into population health topics, such as social determinants of health, environmental impacts, healthy lifestyles, public health law and ethics, biostatistics and epidemiology fundamentals, emergency preparedness and disaster response, infectious diseases, and health services reform. Students will also participate in experiential learning (e.g., site visits, internships, field works etc.) that will deepen their understanding of these subjects.

Minor Programme in Public Health

Eligible CUHK students are welcome to pursue the Minor Programme in Public Health. Students are required to complete at least 18 units of courses to fulfil the requirement of the Minor Programme.

2. Bachelor of Science Programme in Community Health Practice

The Bachelor of Science Programme in Community Health Practice is a UGC-funded two-year full-time articulation programme designed for associate degree or higher diploma graduates. It aims at equipping graduates with knowledge, skills and competencies to effectively implement community health programmes.

3. Bachelor of Science Programme in Gerontology

The Bachelor of Science Programme in Gerontology is a UGC-funded two-year full-time articulation programme designed for associate degree or higher diploma graduates. It aims at equipping students with knowledge and skills to take on aged care service planning; interdisciplinary coordination; planning and implementing care management, empowerment programmes, telecare and transitional care in a wide variety of elderly health and social care settings.
