SPHPC Scholars Awarded for Defending Health in Subdivided Unit Households

We are thrilled to announce that Professor Eliza Wong and Professor Crystal Chan have recently been recognized by the Social Capital Builder Logo Award 2024 for their year-long efforts to provide multiple free, personalized health services focusing on both physical and mental well-being for Hong Kong’s subdivided unit (SDU) residents.

The support was lent through collaboration with the Alliance for the Concern of Grassroots Livelihoods in the Alliance’s Good Neighbour Network for Subdivided Unit Households project.

Since 2023, the collaboration has provided essential health services for SDU residents, including free health checks, personalized health consultations, and a caregiver-support eating group.

Information kiosks have also been set up on social media platforms for residents of SDUs and other inadequate residences to obtain timely reminders on health risk management and nutrition improvement.

Conferred at the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund Forum on 10 December 2024 (Tuesday), the award not only acknowledges Prof. Wong and Prof. Chan’s contributions but also highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building social capital and fostering community development.

On behalf of the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Wong and Prof. Chan on this remarkable achievement.
