Prof. HAN studies health economics with a focus on supply-side determinants of health care quality and prescription drug policies. Her recent work examines provider response to maternity ward crowding in Kenya, the impacts of Indonesia's Primary Care Accreditation Program, and the effects of multi-state drug purchasing pools in the U.S.

About the Moderator

Prof April Yushan WU is a health economist with a specialization in quantitative health policy and health system analysis. Her mission is to promote strategic purchasing for health - maximizing health system performance by deciding which interventions should be purchased, how, and from whom. Driven by this, she is currently examining 1) health financing, particularly the hospital and primary care payment methods, 2) innovations in healthcare delivery, particularly in hospital readmission reduction programs and algorithms, and 3) inequity issues in health systems.

Prof WU is serving as the principal investigator for three HMRF projects: two of which focus on developing models to predict readmission risks and facilitate post-discharge care, and one examines health financing for primary care services. Furthermore, she is a co-investigator for commissioned projects investigating the role of private health financing in Hong Kong's healthcare landscape.
