Participatory research is a cornerstone of public health. This workshop will review some of the fundamentals of participatory research in health. For example, designathons can spur innovation, facilitate multi-disciplinary collaboration, and inform public health intervention development in a structured manner. Designathons are a three-step process informed by design thinking that include preparation with end-users, intensive collaboration, and follow-up implementation and/or research.1 Several co-authors of the recently launched World Health Organization practical guide on participatory health research 2 will introduce key principles through lecture and participatory activities. Join us!
