We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Johnson Wang, Assistant Professor at the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care at CUHK, has been awarded The Most Promising Young Researcher Award. This recognition highlights his exceptional contributions to research in the area of public health and primary care.
Prof. Wang's award-winning project is titled “A Randomized Controlled Trial Evaluating Efficacy of Promoting Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Among Chinese Men Who Have Sex with Men”, which is supported by the Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF) administered by the Health Bureau.
The award was presented to Prof. Johnson WANG by Dr Libby Lee, the Under Secretary for Health, Secretary for Health's Office, Health Bureau

The award was presented to Prof. Wang at the Health Research Symposium 2024 on 26 November 2024 (Tuesday) at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building. This year, 13 researchers were honoured with awards at the Symposium in recognition of their exceptional research efforts and significant contributions in the areas of medical and health, health promotion, and COVID-19.

About Professor Johnson Wang
Prof. Johnson Wang obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Medicine from School of Public Health, Peking University, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health from JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been appointed as Assistant Professor in JC School of Public Health and Primary Care since 2020.
Prof. Wang received the Early Career Award by the International Society of Behavioral Medicine in 2016. An innovative HIV self-testing service developed by Prof. Wang was listed in the compendium of evidence-based interventions and best practices for HIV prevention by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He serves as a board member and a member of the service committee for AIDS Concern, a leading non-governmental organization in sexual health and HIV prevention in Hong Kong. He is also a member of executive committee of the Centre for Health Behaviours Research in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is the Principle Investigator (PI)/Co-PI of 22 research grants (over HK$ 21 million) and has published over 160 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
