The Jockey Club Generation Connect Project team from the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care (SPHPC) at CUHK came second in the video competition organised by the 11th Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Population Aging Conference. The awarded video titled ‘Intergenerational Wellbeing Amid COVID-19’ was selected from more than 10 entries from different Asian countries.
The 11th APRU Population Aging Conference on ‘Challenges and Resilience Related to Aging Population: Surviving and Thriving toward Successful Aging’ which took place virtually during 7-8 April held a video competition themed the ‘Impact of Pandemic COVID-19 on Aging Communities’. The video was inspired by the unprecedented challenges brought by social distancing and reduced social interaction during the pandemic.
‘Strengthening the intergenerational wellbeing and solidarity is crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the development of innovative solutions to cope with these challenges is essential in the era of the “New Normal”’, remarked project leader Prof. Eliza Wong. The video showcased some existing obstacles and presented efforts the population has made in promoting intergenerational harmony amid the pandemic.
The Jockey Club Generation Connect Project was launched in 2018 to promote intergenerational cohesiveness and harmony. The team works with NGO partners to co-design, co-create and co-evaluate a series of community-based programmes and co-produce knowledge to develop a proactive attitude toward aging in the long run.
