Bio
Mr. Chiu obtained the Advanced Master of Science in Disaster Medicine from the Università del Piemonte Orientale (UPO) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He completed the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme in the concentration of infectious diseases in The University of Hong Kong, and Professional Diploma in Tropical Nursing from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Mr. Chiu is a nurse by training and practiced nursing in the specialties of orthopaedic and emergency. He has been involved in the medical disaster and humanitarian health response at local and international level. He has completed various humanitarian missions including conflict-related emergency in Pakistan and Gaza, Ebola outbreak in Liberia, war-related emergency in Yemen and Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh since 2013. Prior to joining the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Mr. Chiu had also worked at the Hong Kong Red Cross in response to the global health emergency crisis and at a local non-governmental organization serving people living in subdivided flats in Hong Kong.
